ABOUT ABOUT

As all children know, watching parents dance to music is beyond embarrassing. Save your kids the shame and sign them up to participate in Art Camp@Dusk while you enjoy a frosty brew at a Downtown@Dusk concert. During ArtCamp@Dusk children 6-12 years will explore all kinds of fun, wacky and (gasp!) educational hands-on art activities in the museum’s classroom.

Each session is free for members and $5 for non-members, pre-registration is required.

Description of classes:

June 20: “Trash to Treasure”, use found objects and your imagination to create an artwork that will pop off the wall.
June 27: “Express yourself”, use lines, shapes and colors to make an abstract painting to explore your own artistic expression
July 11: “Cityscape Collage”, create your own vibrant city by using collaged images from magazines and postcards
July 18: “Summer Creatures”, construct a mixed media creature and design an environment for it to live in
July 25: “Contemporary Corpses”, play a game used by Surrealists to create stories and artworks using instant photographs and drawing.
August 1: “Pieces and Parts”, use felting techniques to create an artwork inspired by artists who use many pieces to create larger artworks

August 15: “Atmospheric Landscapes”, use oil pastels and torn paper to create a one-of-a-kind landscape
